The debut season of the CBS sitcom "Rules of Engagement" introduces us to four people at different stages of their relationships, and a womanizing guy who is a friend to all four of the individuals. Oliver Hudson plays Adam, a young, sweet-natured, unsophisticated financial officer who is involved with Jennifer (Bianca Kajilich), an impulsive woman who often drags her guy along on many adventures and schemes. Adam, who works in finance, admires his co-worker Jeff (Patrick Warburton), a manly man who dispenses relationship tips to Adam that are often unsound because Jeff has grown cynical in his marriage to Audrey (Megyn Price), a modern woman who tolerates her husband's boorish behavior. Their friend Russell (David Spade) frequents prostitutes and enjoys picking up emotionally damaged women, and provides a counter balance to the committed relationships of the other four main characters. Highlights from the first season include Jeff and Audrey considering starting a family, a birthday party that causes major headaches, Russell pretending to be much younger to impress a new conquest, and Audrey worrying that her husband thinks she's not as much fun as women he used to date.
