Season 2 of this sitcom finds Mike (Tim Allen) butting heads with Ryan (Jordan Masterson), the father of Mike's grandson, Boyd (Flynn Morrison). Ryan becomes a bigger presence in Boyd's life, which leads to Mike and Ryan clashing over issues such as Boyd taking Ryan's last name. Ryan also begins to rekindle his romance with Kristin (now played by Amanda Fuller), Mike's oldest daughter. Since Kristin is no longer dating Kyle (Christoph Sanders), he's free to enter into a relationship with Mike's middle daughter, Mandy (Molly Ephraim). Meanwhile, Mike's youngest, Eve (Kaitlyn Dever), develops a rebellious streak. At one point she ditches soccer practice and gets drunk at a party, and another incident finds her insisting that her mother (Nancy Travis) quit her job at an environmentally irresponsible company. The season also features guest-star appearances from two of Allen's former "Home Improvement" costars: Richard Karn and Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
