Successful ad pitchman Ernest P. Worrell got his own live-action series for kids, winning an Emmy for Jim Varney, who played Ernest, as well as several other odd characters. Ernest, known for his bugeyes, Southern drawl and catchphrase 'KnowhutImean!' also appeared in a series of popular movies. Vern, of course, was never seen.
