The first season of the American science-fiction television series Fringe introduces audiences to Boston-based FBI Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv), who, following the death of her lover and colleague John Scott (Mark Valley), is chosen to serve in the FBI's "Fringe" division; that is, a department dedicated to solving unorthodox crimes that often require the use utilization of so called "Fringe science". By her side is Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble), a foremost expert in fringe science who has spent nearly two decades in a mental institution, and his estranged son, Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson), who reluctantly agreed to serve as Walter's legal guardian. After investigating a series of strange, often gory incidents, the team becomes aware of a bio-terrorist organization known as ZFT that may have ties to a highly mysterious corporation called Massive Dynamic. As their knowledge of ZFT and Massive Dynamic grows, so, it would seem, does the threat to their personal safety.
