A bumbling cop whose partners keep winding up in the hospital gets one who should last---a robot named 'Yoyo'---in this high-concept misfire from producer Leonard Stern ('Get Smart').
This short-lived variety show tailored to kids was the brainchild of Bill Cosby, who opened the show with a monologue. That was followed by skits and blackout sketches, puppetry and visits from celebrities and sports stars. Guests who appeared included Gabe Kaplan, Cindy Williams and the rock group Chicago.
The ABC Saturday-morning version of the cartoon recasts the comedic duo as the best of friends who sometimes undertake adventures together and, other times, compete against each other in a variety of sporting contests.
In a sequel to 'The Danny Thomas Show,' cast members were reunited for more domestic predicaments. It played out engagingly enough, but the series never found an audience, despite the appearance of such high-powered guests as Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra and Milton Berle.
