Assembly-line worker and family man George is promoted to manage an airplane parts factory in Los Angeles. George is clearly devoted to his wife, Angie, and their children, Max and Carmen, but his live-in, insensitive, difficult mother makes things complicated.

Parody of television soap-operas--the show's humor relies on exaggerating soap-operas' characteristic plot implausibility and melodrama to ridiculous extremes, then adds a fair bit of the truly bizarre, including some remarkable characters.

On impulse Michelle and Hubble get married and she relocates to a small town where she learns she will be sharing a house with her mother-in-law Fanny. Little to Michelle's knowledge, Fanny owns a dance studio in the back of the property and Michelle sees all these young ballerinas striving to reach their dreams. After an unexpected tragedy, Michelle's entire world will change.
