The Steel Inferno

Part II of a two part Made for TV Movie. In a plot derived from The Towering Inferno, a high-rise building fire sparked by a carelessly thrown cigarette brings a multi-alarm response from Station 110, assisted by Squad 51. The fire traps several employees, including an office manager (Linda Gray) and her assistant (Anne Lockhart), who is engaged to one of the Squad 110 paramedics. Dr. Brackett leads a triage team from Rampart in a nearby garage. The Coast Guard helicopter is brought in to evacuate the trapped individuals. Dixie and Dr. Early handle the influx of patients at Rampart; while Roy and Johnny extricate themselves from a broken elevator, they also have to rescue an injured firefighter captain from an elevator shaft.

Question: Terence Knox played in a series before Tour of Duty. What was that series? Its like a spy and rescue series. I think the female may been Susan St. James. The theme song was "Looking for a Hero," sung by Bonnie Tyler.Answer: I'm not able to make all the details match, Pandy (the timing, the costar, Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero," etc.), but it sounds like you may be talking about Rescue 77. And if you aren't, my crack readership will spank me and steer me in the right direction, and I'll update you in a later column. Knox (St. Elsewhere) play Dr. Griffith in the contemporary version of the hit '70s series

Question: Robert Fuller (Emergency!) starred in a Western in which he was, I believe, a reformed outlaw, or fast gun, named Jess. Can you tell me about the series, and do you know whether it's available on video?Answer: Indeed I can, Brenda, and did back in 2000. As far as I know, however, Laramie is not available on video.

Stories of the journeys of a wagon train as it leaves post-Civil War Missouri on its way to California through the plains, deserts, and Rocky Mountains. The first treks were led by gruff, but good-at-heart Major Seth Adams, backed up by his competent frontier scout, Flint McCullough. After Adams and McCullough, the wagon train was led by the avuncular Christopher Hale, along with new scouts Duke Shannon and Cooper Smith. Many stories featured the trustworthy Assistant Wagonmaster Bill Hawks, grizzled old cook Charlie Wooster, and a young orphan, Barnaby West.
