Law & Order is on the move

Taylor Bloom, Kat Cunning, Tommy O'Brien, Hope Davis, and Peter Krause, Line of Fire
NBCNBC looks like it will top CBS in total viewers when the 2025-2026 television ends, the first time CBS hasn't finished in first since the 2007-2008 season. Though this is largely due to NBC's February in which the stars aligned — a wicked constellation made up of the Super Bowl, Winter Olympics, and NBA All-Star Game — NBC is hoping for a repeat in 2026-2027 and not changing its schedule much at all.
The only change for longtime NBC fans will be seeing Law & Order, heading into its 26th season, scoot back to the 10 p.m. hour on Thursday nights to make room for an NBC version of the hit reality series The Traitors, which will lead off the evening at 8 p.m. A few new shows will also make splashes this fall, including the thriller Line of Fire, which stars Peter Krause and Hope Davis as members of a family of law enforcement agents being targeted by an assassin. Line of Fire gets the coveted Monday at 10 p.m. slot behind The Voice. The new sitcom Newlyweds, starring Téa Leoni and Tim Daly, follows a "later-in-life" couple who get married. It will air on Fridays at 8:30 p.m.
Most everything else stays the same; NBA games will continue on Tuesdays, the One Chicago shows stay put on Wednesdays, both long-running Law & Order shows stick to Thursdays, the odd pairing of comedy (Happy's Place, new sitcom Newlyweds) and Dateline NBC continues on Friday, college football stays on Saturdays, and the NFL isn't going anywhere on Sundays as long as NBC can afford it.
The Hunting Party, which ended its second season on May 7, has not yet been renewed or canceled. Expect NBC to make a decision at some point, and if it is renewed, it will likely return at midseason.
