The story of how Nathaniel Clifton became one of the Black pioneers of the NBA. Known as "Sweetwater" in the courts as he toured with the Harlem Globetrotters, a recruiter spotted him and worked to have him sign with the New York Knicks. As it was unheard of in the 1950s to have a Black man play professional basketball, Sweetwater fought for his place in the professional courts as the civil rights movement unfolded outside the courts.
