Thanksgiving Short Cuts: A Turkey Roams Free

A few things to be thankful for today: The courts are starting to really toughen up on drunk drivers. On Wednesday, Mike Tyson was released from the pokey after serving a way longer sentence than Lindsay Lohan. He was behind bars for a whole 24 hours.  TBS' premiere of Mad TV impressionist Frank Caliendo's Frank TV late-night skit show drew 2.9 million viewers  delivering better demos, the cabler crows, than even Leno and Letterman. Which can only mean the far superior Stephnie Weir will be getting her own series any day now. Laura Branigan is making a comeback, the New York Post reports. Fans of the "Self Control" singer, who died three years ago, have demanded the rerelease of three of her out-of-print albums, and in January, their wish will come true. So would now be a good time for me to start campaigning for Strawberry Switchblade to finally come out in the US? — Ben Katner

Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy has inked a $15 million, multiyear deal under which he will stay on as showrunner of the top-rated FX series and develop new programming for 20th Century Fox.... TBS has ordered eight episodes of The Frank Show, a late-night sketch series starring comedian Frank Caliendo.... Chris Cornell is leaving the rock group Audioslave, citing "irresolvable personality conflicts" and "musical differences," says the AP.... Sawyer? Lincoln Burrows? Letterman Makes Quite an Impression

This just in from CBS: "The Late Show with David Letterman, which recently entertained audiences with 'Ventriloquist Week,' will next highlight some of the best impressionists when it presents 'Impressionist Week,' [starting] Monday, Nov. 13." The lineup is as follows: Rich Little (Monday), Fred Travalena (Tuesday), Gordie Brown (Wednesday) MadTV's Frank Caliendo (Thursday) and then Kevin Pollak (Friday).Myself, I do a mean Jimmy Stewart: "You think the whole world revolves around you and your money, Mr. Potter. Well, it doesn't. Why, in the whole vast configuration of things, you are nothing but a scurvy li'l spider!" OK, you kinda have to be here at my desk.
