And instead of vetting it with my own sources, I pulled a Dan Rather and let the denial stand. Long story short: I relied on incorrect information and got burned. Ausiello: Earth to Holly G. — I reported months ago that Noth would be a regular next season on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, where he'll be splitting the workload with crybaby Vincent D'Onofrio. What I didn't report was that Dick Wolf is currently casting a new female partner to work alongside Noth. Kathryn Erbe, it turns out, will only be appearing in D'Onofrio's episodes. Question: I think House is one of the best new shows I've seen in a long time. Any scoop? — Matt Ausiello: This season's second-to-last episode — airing May 17 — will explore Dr. Grumpy's past via flashbacks. "House is going to be lecturing students about [his experiences as a doctor], and it's going to give you a glimpse of his perspective on the practice of medicine," series creator David Shore tells me. The episode will also reveal what happened to the doc's leg and introduce Sela Ward as his ex-girlfriend. It'll all set the stage for an emotional season finale that puts House in what can best be described as a very unenviable situation. (Hint: It involves his ex's new husband.)
Question: Do you have any scoop on HBO's Entourage? Nobody seems to ask about it, so I guess I have to. Also, when does the second season start? — Eric Ausiello: The second season starts June 5. And the only dish, er, dirt I got is The Shield's Anthony Anderson is gonna play himself in a few episodes.
Question: When is the third season of Chappelle's Show going to begin? Wasn't it due back in February? — Arianna Ausiello: It's looking like it won't get started now until early June. Dave C. apparently needed more time to work on the scripts.

Question: Any idea what's going to happen with Carniv&#224le? The second season finale was excellent, but I'm worried it's going to be canned. — Melanie Ausiello: You're worried? I've been biting my nails down to nubs ever since Sophie leveled that cornfield in the episode's final moments. Fortunately, the situation doesn't seem to be as dire as Variety made it out to be last week. (The trade paper reported that Carniv&#224le was "not likely to return" for a third season.) "There's no indication from HBO that the show is dead," series creator Daniel Knauf tells me. "The fact is, our ratings for the last episode were [almost as high as] Deadwood's. Personally, I think they're gonna pick it up." From his mouth to Hawkins' ears.
