USA Network has renewed the Friday-night drama pseries Pysch for a third, 16-episode pseason to air in psummer 2008. Over the course of its psophomore run (which concluded this past Friday), Psych averaged 4.6 million total viewers and was the No. 1 cable pshow in its time pslot.

Sick and tired of being bossed around by network suits, Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick — the guys behind thirtysomething and My So-called Life — have decided to broadcast their new series, the post-college drama Quarterlife, exclusively on MySpace.com (starting Nov. 11). Did I say "new show"? It's not entirely new. It aired once on ABC in 2005, then got yanked after its makers clashed with Alphabet brass. This time around, however, there are 35 more episodes at the ready. Can Cavemen say that?
Alyssa Milano has landed the lead in the Lifetime movie Wisegal, based on the true story of a widow who gets sucked into her boyfriend's life of crime. Oh, and lives to regret it. Sorry, I thought that part went without saying. Lifetime has also OK'd the production of a pilot for Long Island Confidential, a drama about a homicide detective who returns to her old stomping grounds only to find the ghosts of her past still alive and well. Sounds like a job for the soon-to-be-unemployed Julianna Margulies to me. (Her fall drama, Canterbury's Law, is that bad.) And on the big screen, Virginia Madsen is being joined in the spooky A Haunting in Connecticut by three new costars: Martin Donovan, late of Weeds, will play her husband; Veronica Mars alum Kyle Gallner, their son; and Elias Koteas, their friendly neighborhood exorcist.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney has yanked Ben Affleck's directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, from the London Film Festival, where it was to have had its U.K. premiere, because its plot too closely mirrors the unfolding real-life mystery surrounding Madeleine McCann, a youngster who went missing in May in Portugal. Although Mr. Jennifer Garner's flick takes place in Boston, not Portugal, and is based on a novel by Dennis Lehane (of Mystic River), the Mouse still maintains that it has postponed the movie's debut for "the right reasons." Meaning, so far as I can tell, stupidity. Gone Baby Gone will get an American release Oct. 19. Provided nobody goes missing in Sweden.
But who'll look after the inn? Reality sweethearts Tori Spelling and hubby Dean McDermott have been offered the leads in Broadway's Chicago, the New York Post reports. The couple, the paper adds, "are currently in talks," to follow in the footsteps of Amy Spanger and Michael C. Hall, and Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin to become the third married couple to costar in the show.

Boys will be… stupid. On L.A.'s Kevin and Bean morning show, Kid Rock blamed MTV and the Baywatch babe's other ex, Tommy Lee, for his recent bout. The cabler kept him in too-close proximity with the Mötley Crüe drummer, he claimed, and when he and Anderson were splitting up, Lee allegedly swiped Pam's BlackBerry and used it to send his successor naughty messages. (Talk dirty to me, indeed.) Rock added that what started the brawl was Lee's mouth: Tommy "was doing what he does best... talk." If this keeps up, Lee just might agree to a Las Vegas promoter's indecent proposal: a fight during which the rivals would trade blows until one of them is knocked out. The "winner," TMZ reports, would receive $1 million; the loser, the digits of Mini Britney, who's been tapped to be the ring girl.

But for whatever reason, the German government has decided to let the producers of the WWII drama Valkyrie shoot at the Bendlerblock, where the coconspirators in a plot to assassinate Hitler were killed in 1944. Initially, politicos balked at letting another movie crew set up shop at the landmark, and there were questions as to whether leading man Tom Cruise was fit to play national hero Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg.

American Idol triumvirate Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul have reached out to Britney Spears, offering to collectively manage the further-fallen popstress' careening career. "We have decided we can bring Britney back," Cowell tells Fox News, stressing, "We are serious. We plan to buy her some underpants, get her bigger shorts to perform in, and get her away from her stupid friends." (Quite the ambitious trifecta, if you ask me.)
