Episode 1
Eddie Dancen works has a driver for illegal pornographers, the Armstrong's. He sent to collect three London hoods arriving by train at 10 O'clock. He is then given £20 to vanish. Next day one of the men is discovered with his throat cut.
Episode 2
Roy Grant is thwarted when he tries to elope with girlfriend Shabnam Chowdry and angry mob from the neighbourhood chase him away with knives. D.I. Maddan makes some delicate inquiries but her father insists that Grant was kidnapping her.
Episode 3
When the Marriage Guidance Council building is burnt down, suspicion falls on several people with a motive. The answer lies buried somewhere in the answerphone tapes. Meanwhile, Bert Lynch has a crisis of conscience over a family matter.
Episode 4
When he attends the scene of a serious accident, Alec Quilley starts to question his future in the police force. But a day on the beat makes him think yet again.
Episode 5
WPC Jane Beck persuades Insp. Lynch to allow her to go out on patrol, by herself, for one night. When PC Render is beaten up, Jane unwittingly visits domestic victim Mary Hollis only to discover that her husband Roy was the perpetrator.
Episode 6
Tina Stephens informs Insp. Lynch that her husband Roger won't be coming to work. Sgt. Quilley learns that Roger was rushed to hospital and is now in a critical condition. He has attempted suicide and Bert Lynch now faces an investigation.
Episode 7
Fat Freddie Cowling is released from Walton Jail. The police know the proceeds of the robbery are still missing. With his partner Terry Larkin, in crime, released in two weeks Insp. Lynch believes Cowling will go after the missing £40,000.
Episode 8
Shane Doolan's gang vandalise a building site and cause £500 damage. His sister Kay is girlfriend of local villain, Robbie who Sgt. Haggar is interested in. Robbie persuades Shane to start stealing high value goods which he can fence.
Episode 9
Lynch and Maddan are seconded to Special Branch when it's learned that radical anarchist Frank Saietta has moved to their patch. The Assist Chief Constable warns Lynch that Det. Supt. Duncan is obsessed with the case and he should be wary.
Episode 10
Charlie Lund is under surveillance following a tip off he's shifting large amounts money via the EU. Customs rummage crews are also concerned about car parts smuggled on the Sollsbark out of Hamburg. DI Madden hopes for some cooperation.
Episode 11
A girl is murdered near an old abandoned brickworks. She is well known to the police, but piecing together the details of her life proves harder than anyone could have realised.
Episode 12
Vic Lawson suffered heart attack but determined to get £15,000 from the job he planned. Realising it's a set up he shoots his way out. Following a serious motorway crash, police find a stolen car with £15,000 and handgun hidden in a bag.
Episode 13
Major Philpot wants to increase the defences of the station in case of a riot. A gas leak could potentially cause a mass evacuation if Insp. Lynch get the alert. Supt. Watt returns to Newtown to investigate Supt. Arthur Boley of corruption
