Hattie and Ida continue to hang out in secret. Hattie focuses more on her writing, and Ida B. gives Hattie notes on her script, which prompt Hattie to write elsewhere. Ida B. tells Nia she needs a better social media presence. Nia reframes her social media approach and reconnects with Tristan. Marie and Chuck's engagement draws closer, and while Marie is increasingly standoffish with Chuck, she has grown closer to Quintrell and Zach. Idina invites Hattie to join her writing group. Hattie reaches out to her mom for help with getting a job.

After a conversation with Chuck's father, things heat up between Marie and Zach, and Marie is even more unsure about her engagement. Chuck reconnects with a college friend, and they discuss their romantic past together.

Ida takes Hattie on a date to a private restaurant, but Hattie believes it's another instance of Ida not wanting to be seen with her in public. Nia's social media account gets verified, and she gets to know Ben better.
