From home brewing to smoking meat, the world is in the midst of an artisan food revolution and Tom Kerridge aims to discover the finest new food products around. Over seven heats and a finale this knock-out business challenge pits small scale artisan food producers against each other. They'll be offered the opportunity to take over a specialist food shop to sell and show off their finely crafted produce. The winning grub from each of the seven heats returns for a thrilling finale, where one will be crowned 'Best in Shop'.

Episode 1

Preserves, Pickles and Spreads

In the first heat four food producers with fledgling businesses test their products on the locals in Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales. The makers of preserves, pickles and spreads compete for a place in the final.

Episode 2

Cheese

59 mins

In the second heat it is cheese-makers competing for a place in the final. Goat's cheeses, smoked cheese and cheddar cheese are among the products to be judged.

Episode 3

Sweets

This time it is sweet-makers competing in the third heat of the contest. Homemade chocolate bars, cocktail flavoured marshmallows, chocolate liquors and truffles and traditional Scottish tablet are judged.

Episode 4

Sauces

The fourth heat pits makers of cooking sauces against each other. Homemade hot sauce, salted caramel sauce, a healthier curry sauce and a unique 'paella in a bottle' are on show.

Episode 5

Meat

In this edition four meat producers fight it out for a place in the final. Home cured bacon flavoured with fennel, treacle and ale, venison bresaola, biltong and chicken liver parfait are the products to be judged.

Episode 6

Drinks

In the penultimate heat, four drinks producers compete for a place in the final. A cold brew coffee, an unusual cordial, a fermented tea and a baobab smoothie are tested.

Episode 7

Baked Goods

The final heat sees makers of baked goods compete. Phoebe makes free-from chocolate brownies. Bavarian-born Angelika makes pretzels. Mike makes traditional sourdough. Utako makes Japanese breads.

Episode 8

Final

59 mins

All 7 heat winners compete in the grand final. First their produce will go on sale in the shop but without them there to promote it. They then return to the shop to host a farmers market.
