Each night in a major city, Sam the Security Guard locks the closed department store and joins Jodie in the Children's department as she brings a special mannequin with her even as she prepares to work on a display for the next day. With some magic words, the magic hat it wears brings it to life and becomes Jeff. Together with Muffy the Mouse, this gang learn about various things to teach younger viewer, both by the themselves and with visitors to the store.

Episode 2

The Queen of Hearts

When Sam bakes a pie crust and is in need of four-and-twenty blackbirds to put in it, everyone gets on the subject of nursery rhymes. Then the Queen of Hearts shows up unexpectedly and ends up framing Jeff as the knave who stole her tarts.

Episode 4

A Visit to the Opera

While Jodie is preparing for a giant "ribbon-sale", Mrs. Pennypacker is about to go to the opera. Then Mort shows up with two tickets to get to it with Muffy. Waldo also shows up with a machine that will Jeff to go outside the store.

Episode 5

Sam and the Robot

When a new night manager named Crandall J. Crummington III forces Sam to retire, Jeff, Jodie, and Muffy decide to come to his aid, even if it means losing their own jobs to help him. Meanwhile, he befriends an outdated robot named Bleep.

Episode 6

Mrs. Waldo

Waldo's wife, Matilda, is in the store shrunk on a shelf (a little trick she picked up) and upset because he forgot their 30th wedding anniversary. He shows up claiming that he didn't forget but lost track of time.

Episode 8

Ice Cream

The store is on edge when Flora Frimble, the owner's perfectionist sister, begins taking inventory of each department. After she insists that Jodie come up with a brand-new ice cream flavor, she enlists Sam's help.

Episode 11

Memories

The store is hosting a favorite memories contest, where everyone submits their favorite memory, and then everyone votes on their favorite. Jeff doesn't have a favorite memory, and listens as everyone else shares theirs.
