Wells insists to travel after him alone, rightly fearing Jack the Ripper will stop at nothing to save his illegitimate son, mobilized noble young doctor Henry Ayers, who is to die from German fire that day. H.G. fails to talk John out of risking a time rip and is the one getting arrested as suspected spy instead. John tricks and pleads with Henry, who refuses to desert his buddies, but misses transport to the front knocked and tied down by his now revealed father, who takes the vindictive rage after a life of abandonment smiling, considering his bright son un-hoped redemption for his own vile nature and unforgivable sins. Although forbidden so, Jane travels after Wells, having found Hnery actually dies at the cafe, where she finds both badly hit. John can't help, but the time machine arrives I time and grateful Wells admits he'll miss her desperately when back in his time. Meanwhile the senator inform Brooke, who shows him her regenerative genetic research started to help her devoted brother and goon Carl, that Vanessa is about to track down the project Utopia research, so Carl murders the keeper, professor Cedric Myers, but Vanessa still finds her father's original notes.
