Episode 1
Sharing with Min
Despite having sent Alf a birthday telegram from Australia requesting a divorce, Else is back in England after her sister has gone. Along with the recently widowed Min, she and Alf are sharing a bungalow in Eastbourne, and Alf is still ranting about the left-wing press while the women do jigsaws. The three of them brave the icy blasts on the pier before taking tea at the Royal.
Episode 2
Punks
Alf is appalled by the youth of today, in particular the punk rockers, whose appearance sets him off on another of his diatribes about how they should be called up. Rita is coming to visit, and while Alf is spared needing to make pleasantries with Mike, he isn't pleased to discover that his 16-year-old grandson Michael has turned out to be--a punk rocker.
Episode 3
Hung-Over
Alf has spent the afternoon at the football match, the result of which has propelled him into the pub and he has gotten drunk. On his return to the bungalow he is upbraided by the two women for his behaviour, but he ends up engaging them in an argument about cookery and home economics.
Episode 4
Eastbourne
Alf has bought a motorcycle for £50 but it is noisy and smelly and gets him into trouble with the neighbours, as well as with Else and Min. Rita and Michael Junior come to visit and almost miss their train back to London because of a mishap with the bike.
Episode 5
The TV Breaks Down
When the television breaks down Alf and Min decide to pass the time by playing a game of pontoon. To make it more exciting, they play for small amounts of money as wagers. As the game progresses, and not especially in his favour, inevitably Alf proves once more that he is anything but a good loser.
Episode 6
Giving Up Alcohol
In the last of the series, Alf, after sounding off yet again, complains that he is not feeling well. Eventually he is admitted to hospital with a liver complaint. The diagnosis is that it has been caused by all his drinking over the years, and he must stop unless he wants to kill himself. Horrors.
