The combative columnist with the staccato delivery hosted this version of his hit radio newscast. He quit in 1955 after a clash with the network, and the show was briefly revived in 1960. Winchell (who had once performed in vaudeville) also tried a variety series in 1956, introducing performers, TV Guide said at the time, 'with all the intense excitement he used to give to the impending outbreak of war.' The show didn't amount to much, but it did feature the new comedy team of Rowan and Martin.
