The second season of "The Vampire Diaries," based on the novels by L.J. Smith, focuses on the return of Elena's (Nina Dobrev) doppelgänger Katherine (Nina Dobrev). More supernatural beings begin to inhabit Mystic Falls; and original vampires Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) arrive to raise their own havoc. Caroline (Candice Accola) adjusts to her new reality, while Bonnie (Kat Graham) continues to work on honing her gift.
