Emmy and Peabody winner Ireene Wicker's one-woman children's show featured fairy tales and songs. 'The Singing Lady' began in Chicago as a local radio show in 1931 and continued until 1975. The TV version was telecast Sunday evenings from 1948 to '50 and featured marionettes acting out the stories while Wicker supplied all of the voices. Her second TV series, 'Ireene Wicker Storytime,' appeared on ABC's Sunday-morning schedule.
