The events of the sitcom take place in an old hotel located in the middle of the ancient Medina and follow the daily life of the working staff and the family of the hotel owner. Series one was filmed at the Damson Dene Hotel in England's Lake District over five weeks in the summer of 2010. The second and third series were filmed at the Grosvenor Hotel in Torquay, Devon, owned by manager Mark Jenkins who became something of a cult character as a result of the show.
