Season 2 starts with the Irish-Catholic O'Neal family dealing with the fallout of their confessions. Eileen (Martha Plimpton) reveals she has been dating Vice Principal Murray (Matt Oberg) over the summer, but is concerned they're moving too fast. Pat (Jay R. Ferguson) realizes it's time to move out of the family home, as the divorce is finalized. Elsewhere, Jimmy (Matt Shively) passes his SATs, Kenny (Noah Galvin) tries to find some allies at school by creating an LGBT Club, eventually meeting his first boyfriend, Brett (Sean Grandillo), and Shannon (Bebe Wood) prepares for the sacrament of Confirmation.
