Gareth mentors the first four a cappella groups: a London community choir, an Essex gospel group, six Southampton students and a group of Portsmouth women barbershop singers. They will sing for a live audience and a jury of experts will decide who stays in the contest and who is eliminated.

Gareth mentors the four a cappella groups from the north: some Salford students, a Midlands barbershop group, a group from Glasgow University, and a Birmingham sextet.
Episode 3

Gareth brings the six remaining groups together to undergo intensive tutoring before they go head to head once more.

The five remaining groups undergo intensive training with more expert help and a new focus on performance technique.
