In the fictional Mandela County, a sinister threat is spreading: so-called Alternates, disembodied, manipulative doppelgangers that mimic human appearances and drive their victims to their deaths through fear, isolation, and psychological decay. As authorities, the church, and the community become increasingly overwhelmed, surveillance cameras, emergency calls, and disturbing video recordings document the collapse of an entire community. With each new sighting of the Alternates, reality and illusion become further blurred, and the residents of Mandela County are drawn into a maelstrom of paranoia, religious despair, and inexplicable events. The series unfolds as fragmented archival footage, gradually drawing the viewer into a cosmic horror scenario where no one can be certain whether the person before them is truly themselves.

A report for Mandela County shows the county population dropping from 15,000 in 1992 to barely 1,000 in 2009. A video from "BPS Productions 2007", sent to Adam Murray by Sarah Heathcliff, contains a propaganda tape from the USDTP which congratulates the public and law enforcement for helping eliminate "an unforeseen threat". The tape cuts to a guide on three types of Alternate "assimilations": Flawed, Complete, and Overdriven.

In 2009, Adam's ex-girlfriend, Evelin Miller, is working for Dave Lee at MandelaTECH. She finds a tape and watches it on Dave's hidden CRT TV. Evelin, fired by Dave for finding his TV, goes to the empty MCPD station to get a job there. Two years later, immediately following Vol. 2, Adam gets into an argument with Sarah on a messaging app about his response to Jonah's death. Thatcher Davis mourns Ruth Weaver and sees the alternate from Vol. 333 watching and mocking him. A promotional video for "Face Studio 2" explains how users can make a 3D head based on photos of their own face. Dave Lee visits the local cathedral to find his friend O'Brien, who previously offered him a job at the church.

The Beginner's Bible the Story of Easter Clips Circa1995

The video starts with a shot of a castle, before cutting to two guards sleeping next to a large wooden doorway with a large stone blocking the entrance of a cave. The guards then wake up in the morning. Shaking can be heard as one guard asks the other guard if he hears something, on which he responds with yes. They watch as the stone moves and falls, revealing the entrance. They then look away to see an angel sitting below a tree, their face censored with a black bar. The guards run away from the angel. Later, three nuns (each representing the biblical figures of Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Wife of Chuza, and Martha) start walking towards a path leading to the cave. As they walk, they see the guards running away, causing the screen to start becoming black and white. Mary Magdalene later then walks to the cave and is shocked to see 'Gabriel' inside. They start whispering at her, presumably stating that Jesus is in tomb before fading away. Mary Magdalene later then returns back, only for her and the other nuns to disappear, where the video ends.

A news report on Dave's death glitches to reveal text reading "NO MORE RUNNING AW[AY]". Sarah and Evelin discuss Adam's behavior. A darkly lit bedroom is seen; a lamp is turned on to reveal an alternate in the doorway. Audio from Dave's autopsy reveals both of his eyes are missing and his brain is behaving abnormally. Gabriel, standing atop Thatcher's home, asks him if he "hears the screaming" and that he should "go and see". Thatcher drives to Adam's home and he finds the house to be in disarray.

A television spot advertises MandelaTech's going-out-of business sale. Evelin and Sarah hack into the store's security cameras to try and find Dave. While the two speak on a call, Sarah is disconnected, and her computer connects to the security cameras at the police station. The security camera footage shows Thatcher and Adam talking at the station about Adam's experiences, in which Adam claims to have been told he's "paying the price" for Jonah's death. Thatcher asks who told him, and Adam says it was God.

The video starts with the "ON AIR" sign being shown, the quality later then gets lower until we see the wall, ground and window, the screen later then turns black, we later then see Adam's drawings of 'Gabriel' and The Intruder (which were first seen in the MandelaTECH website) in low quality until the video ends with the picture of St. Gabriel's Church and the text which reads "answers lie beneath".

The video starts with a compilation of funny Vine videos from 2015, but during a video of someone dressed as Pennywise, it cuts to a dark room with the only light being shown is from the door, someone can be heard saying "Thank you so much for calling, please leave your message after the tone." After this, the screen cuts to a dark hallway and a radio station as the weather starts playing. It then cuts again to a picture of a couple (being Lynn, Jude, and Adam) and a plant, followed by a clock showing the time of "1:30". It then cuts back to the first room as the door closes. It cuts again showing a video of someone going door-to-door with empty rooms inside the house, but in the hallway, a light turns off and they go to the dining room. After this, it cuts to a drawing resembling a butterfly. It then returns again to a door and cuts back to the clock, but the time now shows "2:38". But as soon as the second handle stops, it cuts to a lamp flickering, and soon after, to a door handle opening. However, it ends as the Vine compilation resumes playing.

This plot is interwoven with a stop-motion animation about a shepherd attempting to communicate with the Holy Spirit, but having encounters with Alternates.

Unraveling, Pt.1

The video begins with the recorder searching for the channel called alldarkallgone on TikTok. They then check her stats before going to her only video, where she is seen doing her makeup. The video loops repeatedly, the music becoming further degraded and more unnerving with each loop. A faint voice is heard repeating "all dark all gone" gradually getting louder. A supposed alternate (presumably False Gabriel) shows up in front of the windows before the clip gets replayed and zooms into the windows. The video then loops one last time with a black and white effect and lack of music. The recorder is notably missing, though her voice can be faintly heard as though from far away. The camera pans to her bed, and the video ends.
