In the second season of "The Good Doctor," Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) is told by Dr. Marcus Andrews (Hill Harper) that he needs to learn how to communicate more openly. Shaun struggles to do so, particularly as he attends to his mentor Dr. Aaron Glassman's (Richard Schiff) needs during the latter's cancer treatments, and as he repairs his fractured relationship with ex-girlfriend and now-roommate Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara). However, chief of surgery Dr. Jackson Han (Daniel Dae Kim) remains unconvinced of Shaun's efforts. Meanwhile, Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) gets into conflict with her boss Dr. Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzales), and Dr. Melendez forms a secret romance with Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang).
