The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection splits 12 talented men and women into two fashion houses and each "house" must work together, not only to create a cohesive collection each week, but also to produce a live fashion show in every episode. From the set, to the music and lighting, these contestants will be pushed harder than ever before as they lay it all on the line for a chance to create the ultimate collection and to win $125,000 furnished by TRESemme Professional Hair Care. This season, Harper's Bazaar's Features and Special Projects Director, Laura Brown, joins Mizrahi and Iman as series judge.

Iman's Career in Fashion

In the season two premiere, 12 designers arrive in New York City to compete for the chance to win a prize of $125,000. After meeting the judges - fashion icon Iman, internationally acclaimed designer Isaac Mizrahi and Special Projects Director at Harper's Bazaar Laura Brown - they are shocked to learn that for the duration of the competition they will be split into two teams and competing as dueling fashion houses. In their very first challenge, each house must create a complete and cohesive line inspired by the fashion career of Iman.

Much of the TV landscape is, and has always been, devoted to comfort-food formula. Some of us, though, live for those moments when a show breaks formula and delivers the unexpected. This week gave us some excellent examples of that in the most popular formula of the moment: the crime/police drama. Want more Matt Roush? Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now! First, TNT's Southland, which really doesn't qualify as a conventional police procedural, its cases often taking a back seat to the personal day-in-the-worklife dramas that unfold with gritty, muted realism. Even so, it was a jolt to witness the death of a major character (Kevin Alejandro's quietly competent Nate Moretta) unfold in the manner of a matter-of-fact nightmare...

OK, Bravo really needs to do a Battle of Its Network Stars. They tried something similar back in 2005 with various reality vets from Survivor, The Apprentice, et cetera, but watching last night's Fashion Show — which tasked the designers with making-under the flashy-trashy Real Housewives of New Jersey and Orange County — it became clear the network that's given us so many catfights, bitchy confessionals and borderline personalities has a treasure trove of "stars" within its own ranks to pit against one another.

Alicia races against the clock to secure a stay of execution for a death-row inmate who is scheduled to die in nine hours. It's all set in motion when Alicia receives a cryptic message from a courthouse clerk concerning the condemned man's appeal. In more personal matters, Alicia, who recently learned of Will's phone call in which he professed his love for her, but which was deleted by Eli before she heard it, asks Will if they can talk about their relationship. This was a week dominated by the Coco Express (and the launch of Conan took some of my focus off prime time this week, so this will be a more selective roundup). Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now!LATE NIGHT WITH COCO: If Conan O'Brien keeps creeping earlier and earlier onto the schedule with each step of his career (from 12:30 to 11:30 and now to 11/all times ET), eventually he'll be ready for prime time. But not really. As I noted in my insta-reaction to Conan's opening night, the move to basic cable (feeding nicely into Conan's self-mocking persona) is the equivalent of going from Broadway to off-Broadway. Ergo the hipster beard. Being the underdog suits Conan, and while his explosive opening ratings quickly came down to earth, it's clear that a significant slice of the younger fan base is thrilled to see this funky and deeply silly Irish folk hero of TV comedy get back in the game...
