The Deputy
The Deputy is Clay McCord, a storekeeper in 1880's Silver City, Arizona Territories, who is an expert shot, but refuses to use his gun, because he believes they are the major cause of frontier violence. However, he is persuaded many times to be the Deputy to help keep order when Chief Marshal Simon Fry is out of town.

Clay's friends blame him for losing the race, so when he gets word that the Russian is up to his old tricks in Bisbee, Clay rides west in hopes of getting a return match.

While trying to mend the break themselves, the little group are attacked by the Indians.
