The hopefuls arrive for the first day of the competition, and Andy Dick immediately eliminates one of them. He also shows them to their sleeping quarters (a garage), gives them each a book about his life and puts on a "game show" in which he quizzes them about his life.

The wanna-be Hollywood insiders are given assignments that range from detailing Andy's Hummer to running a 2K race. Also: two of the assistants are sent home.

Max the butler has the contestants organize a birthday party for Andy, but the wannabes are surprised when Nikeda returns to help plan it. To make matters worse, both Andy's girlfriend and ex-girlfriend are invited to the shindig, which does not go over well with the star.

When Andy becomes ill, he orders the wannabes to fulfill his day's requirements. Anna "researches" a script with Jack Osborne; Tanika and Mykell attempt to reserve their boss a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame; Melissa and Stefani take Andy's "little brother" for the day; Mark pretends he's Andy for a Japanese interview; and Colin breaks up with Andy's girlfriend for him.

When one wannabe is late to respond to his morning siren, Andy cuts her. Andy then decides to go camping with the five remaining assistants; and later gives them polygraph tests to gauge their honesty.

The four remaining contestants try to help Andy wine and dine his former girlfriend, but nothing goes as planned. Also: Andy forces them into an "American Idol"-like contest; and cuts two wannabes.

Tanika and Melissa, the remaining two contestants, are surprised when Andy brings back Mark. Also: Dave Navarro arrives to jam, but Andy's in a therapy session; and Andy arranges a "Fear Factor"-like contest for the wannabes.

In the first-season finale, Andy asks the final two wannabes to write him an '80s-themed song to perform at a comedy club with his band. Also: the winner is selected.
