New arrival Robbie Ross, a man with a chequered past, teams up with Jackie to look into the theft of a race horse and a murder at the race track. The different crimes eventually prove to be linked by another theft and murder from thirteen years earlier.

However, as the part is in full swing with The Sweet Muffins (The Oddballs) performing on stage, the body of the hotel owner is discovered strangled and dumped in the rubbish. When the main suspect is found murdered before the police can question him it is the start of a complex case that will effect Jardine in a way he cannot yet expect.
