He awakens in a police interrogation room and is offered the chance to join "the Corps," a group of heavenly agents who struggle against the Faustians (folks who make a deal with the devil) and Morlocks (what the Faustians become when their deal falls through). He teams up with Henry MacNeil, a black man from the 70's. Together they travel the streets of Hollywood (a center of demonic activity, naturally), fighting evil.
