Sugar Apple Fairy Tale
In the kingdom of Highland, fairies lived freely until humans betrayed them. Once a fairy has been stripped of a wing, whoever possesses it holds the fairy's life in their hands. Taking advantage of this, humans enslaved fairies, but 15-year-old Ann Halford longs to see the day when fairies and humans are treated as equals. The aspiring confectioner dreams of becoming a Silver Sugar Master just like her late mother. In order to achieve this lofty goal, Ann sets out for the capital of Lewiston, home to the annual Royal Candy Fair. However, to be bestowed the elusive title, Ann's confection crafted from silver sugar must be recognized with a royal medal at the event. Ann hires a sharp-tongued warrior fairy, Challe Fen Challe, to be her bodyguard for the perilous journey ahead. After saving him from his cruel fairy trader, she promises to return Shall's wing to him once they reach the capital, much to his confusion. But as the pair travel further along, the time they spend together grows, and they learn more about each other and their true desires.

Anne and Challe encounter a wagon being attacked by bandits on the Bloody Highway. The owner of the wagon is revealed to be Jonas, who insists on traveling with Anne. Later, Anne discovers that the fairy she saved has been following them.

Anne and the others spend the night at a doctor's inn. Upon learning that Anne and Jonas are sugar artisans, a man named Hugh asks for them to create sugar confections. Later, Anne discovers that some of her silver sugar has disappeared.

The Fate of the Royal Medal
After being betrayed, Anne loses hope for becoming a Silver Sugar Master and returns Challe his wing. Anne believes she has been left alone, but Challe returns and asks that she fulfills her promise to create a sugar confection for him.

Anne is angered and saddened by the fairies' reaction to Lafalle's control over them. Lafalle forces Challe to help steal silver sugar and demands that Anne make sugar confections for him. Because of him, things between Anne and Challe become strained.

A New Form
Challe takes up his blade to stop Lafalle. Anne worries for Lusul and the warrior fairies who helped her. In this world where sugar confections bring good fortune, a silver sugar master and an obsidian fairy fight to hold on to their hopes for the future.
