Episode 1

Durch dick und dünn

A diet guide was recently presented at the "GenussWerk" cooking school in Stuttgart, and Schrotti is enthusiastic about the book. When its author, Mirijam Berghaus, is found dead, the shock runs deep. Suspicion falls on the cooking school's owner, Paul Thiel, and his wife, Lena. Soon, Mirijam's half-sister, Dunja Peters, also becomes a focus of the investigation; she had felt abandoned while sharing the care of Mirijam's father - who has since passed away.

Episode 2

Toxische Geheimnisse

When Stefan Maas crashes his motorcycle on a country road, foul play is suspected. Jan Arnaud, head of the forensic unit, confirms that the braking system had been tampered with. Suspicion falls on the victim's wife, Meike Maas; her watch business is in financial jeopardy due to outstanding tax debts. Did she hope to save the shop using her husband's life insurance payout and cause him to crash to his death? Despite the clear motive, she vehemently denies any involvement in her husband's death. The victim had worked as a plant mechanic for the Stuttgart-based waste disposal company "Green Recycling." Detectives investigate the possibility that Stefan Maas's motorcycle had been parked in the company's depot, where it must have been tampered with. Consequently, the investigators pay a visit to the company's owner, Bettina Zabel-a tough, conservative businesswoman. She explains that the victim was highly valued at the company and had been friends since youth with her son, Julian, who works there as a developer. However, the investigation reveals that the victim's relationship with the Zabels was not as good as they claimed. The police also uncover interesting clues while searching the watch shop.

Episode 3

Rent a friend

A "token son-in-law," a concert companion, or a conversation partner to stave off loneliness? Markus Keller offered his services as a "rent-a-friend" in Stuttgart-until he was found stabbed to death. The detectives face a complex puzzle, as the victim's unusual profession-providing paid companionship-casts suspicion on a vast number of people. Did a dispute with one of his clients lead to the crime? The trail quickly leads to Günther Grassl. The taxi driver had recently been a client of Markus Keller and had tried to contact him repeatedly on the evening of the murder. During questioning, the investigative team realizes that the paid male friendship had gone well for quite some time, until the arrangement became something far more significant than just "bought time" for Grassl. Did this spark a conflict? But then Nesrin Gerges, the victim's girlfriend, comes under scrutiny, and their relationship raises unanswered questions. Why did they meet so rarely, and why were Markus Keller's parents completely unaware of their son's new partner? The investigation takes an unexpected turn when Elli Grassl, the taxi driver's daughter, also appears to be implicated. Did she know the victim? What is she hiding? Is she providing an alibi to protect her father? Or is she trying to defend herself?
