A pinnacle of the Golden Age of Television, "Studio One" presented a wide range of memorable dramas and received eighteen Emmy nominations and five wins during its prestigious nine-year run on CBS. Showcasing some of the greatest talents of the era, this groundbreaking series created an enormous impact, and still remains a treasured part of America's broadcasting history. Embracing the work of some of television's most iconic writers, directors, actors, and technical artists, the Studio One Anthology featured the complete 1954 original television production of "12 Angry Men" and is highlighted by early performances by Charlton Heston, Art Carney, Jack Lemmon, and Leslie Nielsen, as well as teleplays written by Rod Serling and Gore Vidal.

On October 30, 1938, Orson Welles' Mercury Players performed a radio play version of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds. Some people in the unsuspecting public took the broadcast as a real report about a Martian invasion. In this television play of twenty years later, several fictional storylines present the story of the 1938 broadcast and the panic it caused. Edward R. Murrow, as himself, provides short narrative bridges between scenes. The fun includes watching the young extras for a surprising number of faces that will later range from the familiar to the famous.

Jack Klugman, best known for his role on The Odd Couple, has died. He was 90. Klugman died Monday afternoon in his Northridge, Calif., home, his son, Adam, told The Associated Press. In Memoriam: See the stars we lost this year Born in Philadelphia, Klugman began acting after he was discharged from the Army in 1945. He started on the stage in a Broadway revival of Golden Boy in 1952 and eventually scored his first film role in 1957 as Juror No. 5 in the seminal Sidney Lumet film 12 Angry Men.

As the World Turns' Helen Wagner Dies at 91

Helen Wagner, best known for playing Nancy Hughes on As the World Turns for more than a half-century, has died. She was 91. Wagner, who acted up until her death, died Saturday, the show's New York-based production company, TeleNext Media Inc., announced. She spoke the first words on As the World Turns when it premiered in 1956, and holds the Guinness World Record for playing the same role on television for the longest time (54 years). She was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2004.
