Inspector Branka Maric is investigating the murder squad in Split in Croatia. She receives support from her two colleagues Emil Perica (Lenn Kudrjawizki) and Borko Vucevic (Kasem Hoxha) and her direct superior Tomislav Kovacic (Max Herbrechter). In the seventh episode, Branka Maric dies during an investigation. He is succeeded by Commissioner Stasa Novak (Jasmin Gerat).

Am Flussufer des Jadro wird eine Männerleiche entdeckt: Vito Andic, ein 36-jähriger Marmeladenhersteller aus Südkroatien. Bei dessen Kunden Horvath, der in Split einen Bioladen betreibt, finden Chefermittlerin Stascha Novak und ihre neue Kollegin Valessa Matkovic nicht nur Hinweise auf raffiniert getarnte Drogengeschäfte, sondern auch Mordindizien. Doch auch der Tatverdächtige wird kurz darauf tot aufgefunden. Spuren führen zu dem Beachclub "Marianna" von Luka Staric, der mit seinem Barkeeper Dejan gerade eine vielversprechende Servicekraft einlernt: Es ist Valessa, die unter falschem Namen und ohne das Wissen ihrer Chefin undercover ermittelt. Was sie herausfinden möchte, behält die Neue jedoch für sich. Staschas Bauchgefühl schlägt indes bei einem Stammgast der "Marianna" an: dem millionenschweren Playboy Drago Varga. Dass Valessa weitaus mehr über ihn weiß, als sie ihr sagt, ahnt Stascha jedoch nicht. Irgendwie fällt es ihr schwer, in dem Fall voranzukommen. Dass die Neue weder Alleingänge noch Risiken scheut, bringt beide in Gefahr.
