This 'Hit Parade' for the 1980s was a countdown of the week's top music hits, and included performances by at least five of the artists. There were also comedy segments, videos and routines by an attractive company of shakers and movers called the Solid Gold Dancers. Among the stars who appeared were Chuck Berry, Paul McCartney, Linda Ronstadt, Smokey Robinson, Kool and the Gang, KISS, Olivia Newton-John, the Four Tops, Johnny Cash and Meat Loaf.
