British master spy George Smiley returns for a final encounter with his deadly Soviet counterpart, Karla, in an Emmy-nominated adaptation of John Le Carre's sequel to 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,' which was made into a memorable miniseries shown on PBS's 'Great Performances' in 1980. Alec Guinness superbly reprises the role of the weary and methodical Smiley, who, summoned from retirement, sifts through clues in a complex investigation that carries him halfway across Europe.
