Pete "Skag" Skagska is a 56-year-old union foreman of a Pittsburgh steel mill until a crippling stroke forces him to stay home and try to put his life back together and deal with family problems including his three children: 24-year-old David who worked at the steel mill; shy, insecure 18-year-old Patricia; and rebellious 15-year-old Barbara; his younger second wife Jo; and his own father Petar, who lives with them after his own major stroke.
