A two-part survey of wildlife that inhabits "the hottest and driest patch of land upon the planet" begins with a look at how animals cope with the heat and the lack of water under the watchful eye of the legendary supernatural spirits known as the Jinni, says narrator Alan Oppenheimer. Among "the desert's children": fennec foxes, gazelles, sand snakes, horned vipers, scavenger ants, scorpions (which can survive for a year without water) and scarab beetles, which don't have to drink at all.
