A summer sitcom about the up and downs of two unlikely college freshmen. Nick Chase (Young) is a middle-aged Marine drill instructor who wants something more out of life than what the military can give him, so he leaves the military and goes to college at Saginaw University. His roommate, Matthew Wiggins (Haim), is young and bright but also looked upon as nerdy. Every week, the two learn from each other (mainly, Matthew learning from Nick) and get past life's tough challenges.

Joined by Sheldon and Carl, the guys mount a rescue attempt, but one that's rife with doubts for success.

Despairing over ever attracting a girl, Matthew lands a gig at the campus radio station and becomes an overnight sensation as the school's newest, sexiest and most mysterious DJ, "Bobby Midnight." As the sudden popularity starts going to his head, a sexy caller challenges him to make a personal appearance, forcing Matthew to consider stepping out from the shadow of his heretofore faceless alter-ego.

When Matt finds a girl who's as obsessed with plants as he is with fish, romance blossoms, but a sudden misfortune in a science competition, in which they both compete, sets one to doubt the integrity of the other. In advising them on getting back together, Nick sets off to repair an old misgiving of his own that shattered his long-time friendship with a fellow Marine.

With mid-terms coming, Nick's trepidation surfaces as a nightmare. Since he's not alone in dread, the guys form an all-night study session for their first shared mid-term by an intimidating professor. Favorable results follow for all but Nick, who, disappointed in himself, leaves for home to regroup, with Matthew joining him.
