Hit badly at the wedding bar, Nina goes into surgery for a gunshot wound and Maura sustains a head injury. Jane, who failed to follow the shooter with Frankie, as later turns out missing the sewer route, sets out to look for prime suspect Alice Sands, without authorization announcing it to the press, who print Alice shouldn't have been allowed to escape. Jane mentions Alice's incompetence, a plan to lure her out of hiding, but draws a departmental reprimand. The team finds that Alice intruded among tunnel dwellers who have aided in her revenge against Jane. Korsak delays his retirement out of concern for Jane and Angela breaks up with Ron to protect his family.
