Each week, two families, housed in separate living quarters, are locked together for two days, during which they attempt to outlast and outfox their neighbors by earning the most money through a series of physical challenges, spirited games and controversial family decisions. Unaware of how much money the other group has collected, each family will be tempted to spend their winnings on everyday items and household staples that will make their stay more pleasant. But everything has its price, and if any family member can't handle the heat and presses the "escape button" to leave the game early, they put the entire family's chance of winning in jeopardy.
