Upon arriving in France, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) quickly realize that in order to stop the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart (Andrew Gower), they must integrate themselves into the extravagant high society that surrounds him. Jamie's wine-merchant cousin Jared (Robert Cavanah) leaves for a business trip and entrusts Jamie to take over in his absence, providing the perfect cover for him and Claire to investigate and make strategic connections without drawing attention. Changing the course of history proves to be more difficult than they had imagined, putting Claire and Jamie's relationship to the test in ways that most marriages never have to endure. Season 2 of this historical drama also stars Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish and Duncan Lacroix.
