Through the Gates

Nineteen year old Aimee Lewis, an habitual thief, is released from prison to the care of probation officer Tessa, who is having an affair with her married colleague Mark. Aimee is a problem from the start, landing Tessa with looking after her dog Frank, of which Mark disapproves, taking Tessa off the case. However Tessa is determined not to fail Aimee, whose life has been full of disappointments.

Episode 2

A Mother's Love

After 11-year old Ishmael is witness to a gangland stabbing he and his mother Josephine move in with her sister Claudia prior to Ishmael giving evidence at the killer's trial. Claudia's husband Patrick is a grudging host since Josephine's other son Junior is in prison and Josephine is unnerved to find a knife in Ishmael's possession. The boy gives his evidence but Josephine wonders if he was telling the truth.

Episode 3

That Girl

Self-centred party girl Ashley relies on her sensible flat-mate Becca but masks her dismay when Becca announces her intention to move in with boyfriend Sam, who dislikes Ashley. Unbeknown to the couple Ashley stalks a young man from her past and, high on drugs, pulls a knife on him. When she explains her motive to her friend this leads Becca to an admission and a decision.
