Fast food is an obvious necessity in all our lives, but it doesn't have to be all briskness and efficiency. The idea here is food that we love eating, but doesn't cause a nervous breakdown in cooking.

Home-cooked food should be relaxed and casual. It should reflect our personalities, not our aspirations. Restaurant chefs have to innovate to impress the paying customer, but we are under no such obligation.

Food has to be more than just fuel. It's what brings us and our memories together. Family food is comfort food and we all have certain things that, when you eat them, you feel instantly better.
Episode 4
Cooking isn't performance art. It's about making yourself something to eat and becoming familiar with the rhythms of the kitchen, so the more you cook in an every day kind of a way, the more confident you'll become.

Even if you really love cooking, often it's only at the weekend when you have time to through yourself into it. This doesn't necessarily mean more elaborate food, but it certainly means more enjoyable cooking.
