In the fourth season of this drama, a now-healthy Deacon (Charles Esten) feels guilty as Beverly (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) grows gravely ill, and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) experiences problems with her mental health in the wake of Cadence's birth. Eventually, her erratic behavior takes its toll on Avery (Jonathan Jackson), who asks for a divorce. Meanwhile, Rayna (Connie Britton) works hard on saving her failing label by signing Markus Keen (Riley Smith), a high-maintenance pop star who wants to break into the country-music scene. Rayna's life at home is no less stressful, as she has to deal with an increasingly rebellious Maddie (Lennon Stella), who seeks independence and a music career of her own.
