P.J.'s singles dinner party appeals mainly as free meal, as still for Andy, but his Swedish nanny Elsa's sex appeal stirring (fruitless, hence pointless) courting rivalry between the single boys. The only outsider male guest's attraction on the girls turns out as pointless - because they're girls.

The Shirt Contest

The boys decide to have a shirt-making contest, a la Project Runway, where they spend $20 each and compete for a month of free drinks. Brendan gets a shock when he is fired from the radio station, but he is in for an even bigger shock at his first job interview. P.J. has been asked to co-write a book about a pitcher from the New York Mets, but she has far more interest in the book than he does.

Since being sacked, Brendan is depressed, but also lost health insurance, so instead of a real doctor he consults 'Dr. Brando', who only exists in his head and prescribes crazy remedies. Bobby is shocked when Andy's hot Swedish nanny Elsa faces deportation, but happily helps her out by getting engaged. Andy's firm sends him to a confidence course. Because he's the only man there, Mike joins him, stars but bums out at dating.

PJ often finds herself the go-to gal for the guys' life problems, but atop Bobby's wedding plan woes, Kenny's multiple girlfriend woes, and Mike's lack of girlfriend woes, she spots two areas of concern. Firstly, Stephanie's book comes out, with thinly veiled, chapter-long descriptions of the boys (Ike for Mike, Lenny for Kenny, Bryan for Brendan). Secondly, Andy doesn't recognize his emotional marriage to co-worker Jo, though everyone else can. In addition, Brendan finds his new mailroom job at Andy's office mind-numbing.

Andy's marriage therapy works in a weird, yet natural way.

The poker friends join bride Elsa's Swedish family and other guests at the Newmans' luxurious Californian vineyard for Bobby's grand wedding, where Bobby blames big brother Jack for failing to keep their flirtatious dad George in line. John's cancellation bums out Brendan while P.J.'s attempt to temper Jack fails. Mike finally gets laid, but sadly sleeps through the rest of the event.
