Brendan attends a mutual friend's wedding with his ex to avoid saying they've split up but dresses up in order to enjoy her jealousy, which (as PJ warned) gets out of hand. PJ leaves Bobby confused in the Cubs locker-room for his 'inappropriate' gift, but after seeing him in a bar with foxy ex Claire, they need a face-to-face to straighten out misunderstood terms and signs between her macho and his semi-sissy sides. Nobody accepts Kenny's claim that having coffee twice justifies a claim on a girl, so Mike gets to date them.

Brendan's teenage one-night-stand overstays her welcome by making herself at home in PJ's apartment. An intended new guy for Stephanie shows interest only in PJ. Getting along with Bobby causes a riff between Mike and Kenny. While Brendan has mixed feelings about privileges that come with being "one of the girls," the girls bicker over how the guys found out about PJ sleeping with Bobby, forcing the boys to demand clarification on terminologies

None of the boys have landed a date for some time. They plan to go 'hunting' together without PJ but, seeing through Kenny's lame excuse, she insists on coming along, ruining it for all but irresistible Brendo. Whining when called a spoiler and banned from further hunts, she accepts a 'girlish' cocktail date with Stephanie and, by pure luck, meets a classy dream prince.

Brendan is seen dating his manifold-ex Wendy again while PJ enjoys classy Hank, for whom she tries to be a lady. Brendo admits he didn't want her to know, rightly presuming her judgmental reaction. The other boys feel vexed enough by PJ dating a non-poker-player to seek alternative poker arrangements but find their bachelor places no match for her home and make up after meeting charming Hank, who left the opera seeing her 'shared' boredom with Wagner. Everything goes wrong at the nightly park picnic while Brendan proposes.

Kenny's friend Trouty (whom the guys don't like and regard as a bad hang) joins the poker game. Meanwhile, PJ gets the guys to hang out with Hank in return for agreeing to spend a day with Wendy.

The boys hold their annual ten game duels 'decathlon' (normally Brendan and Mike versus Kenny and PJ). Already agreed to a dinner with Hank, PJ lets Andy stand in for her, however unfit; but, while away on assignment, she ends up in bed with Bobby. Realizing it's a Freudian excuse to break up, she lets Hank go since he doesn't get her friends, hence her neither.

A perfect ten enters Crowley's Tavern, leaving the guys agog even before learning she's Mike's latest ... acquisition. When PJ discovers she's a hardcore social butterfly clinging to Mike only while in transition between celebrities, she fears for his feelings. In the meantime, PJ must deal with two superstars in the Cubs locker room: a renowned reporter who takes her story idea as his own, and a testy traded veteran player who flatly refuses to give any reporter a break.

Brendan is moving and painstakingly gets the gang to help him. While Andy's abusively bossy wife Meredith is in Wisconsin for a weekend, he's allowed to treat his friends (especially three neglected jackasses, including Sheldon 'Squid') to an 'Andy festival' of poker, nachos and drinks. Meanwhile Mike finally gets Kenny to be enterprising with dates then just coffee. PJ gets drunk, 'Fun Andy' lost and intoxicated.

Mike is excited to meet former Cub star Danny Finn and (after a push from the boys) goes out with him and Bobby, but the hero proves an arrogant bastard who stuffs them with a huge bill. Brendan lets Wendy decide all wedding preparations, but once he makes it clear the show is meaningless to him, the marriage gets canceled. PJ is delighted with a visit from her out-of-the-box favorite aunt (Phyllis), who surprises most by mating with Kenny, proving Andy's dim view of her correct.

Just before Andy's birthday, he assures the poker mates his battle ax's latest feat concerns turning it into another dictatorial hell for him, yet when she commandeers PJ to help organize a surprise party for him, Meredith seems both easy-going and well-meaning. Meanwhile an exchange of college day memories makes Brendan so uncomfortable about a shag-and-ignore event with P.J. that he seems unable to spend any time with her anymore. At the party, Kenny Morittori is surprised by the attendance of 'Mexican Freddie', star of his 'baseball legend'.

Spring in Chicago, the boys reassemble. Green with envy at Brendan's new girl Colleen, PJ is mean after he moves out, even 'steals' his 'reserved player' at the traditional fictitious baseball teams picking, more then Brendan can take. Mike actually enjoys unemployment. Andy has a new home, but now he's stuck in traffic endlessly. Bobby soon regrets his noisy new job in a NASCAR pits. Kenny presents his new mate Kimmie, obviously pregnant from before they met. The truth and housing trouble make Brendan and PJ reconsider.

To Bobby's fair envy, PJ is picked as candidate in Turk Vardell's sports maniacs TV show. To the boys' surprise, she stinks at it, but they decide not to rain on her parade, until the truth catches up. Andy pretends to be drunk before he drinks so he can stay the night at unemployed bachelor Mike's place. He then decides the recliner won't do and buys a double king-size luxury bed, which proves the last straw for Kenny's pregnant girlfriend.

Brendan is chosen as one of 50 sexiest men on a Chicago magazine's list. The other boys eagerly hope for his 'left-overs' at the fancy private party, yet prove ingrates when he may only pick one guest. PJ finds hunky Chicago Cub Matt Dougan is attracted to her too, but after Jack Brisco warns her what happened to the previous female sports reporter who dated a Cub must choose 'ethically': job or guy.

The gang heads out to the Hoffman Estates for a barbecue at Andy's house. P.J. runs into a botanist. Mike, Kenny and Brendan compete for the attention of a single mom. Andy receives some shocking news.

P.J. surprises the boys by inviting to their poker night Evan, the botanist she met at Andy's barbecue. He fits without joining in their macho rivalry, but they question why she brought him. Andy has bought a yacht and doesn't tell his wife, feeling the second baby condemns him to boring suburban life. Once he's forced to confront the issue, the results are surprising.
