A young sister and brother run to their grandmother's house late one night and tell her someone came in the house and hurt their mom. She calls 911 and goes down the street to the house to find her daughter dead and her boyfriend gravely injured on the bedroom floor. Detective Rod Demery responds to the call out and gets important information about what happened from the young boy. After weeks of working informants on the street he gets the lead he needs from one of his Major Crimes detectives to apprehend the murderer, along with the help of the K-9 unit.

An abandoned car belonging to missing sailor Nicholas Cox turns up in a parking lot. Inside, Demery uncovers a grisly cache of blood evidence, but no Cox. In order to find justice for him, he must first locate his body.

Looking for Love

Rod Demery is called out to investigate the shooting death of veteran Drexelle McBride at the Shreveport American Legion parking lot. Since Drexelle has been transported to the hospital, Demery interviews the manager who found him in his van and surveys the scene, noting that the shooting likely happened in the van and the victim's wallet is missing. Mr. McBride was a self employed painter who reportedly carried plenty of cash on him at all times. Suspecting this could be a robbery gone wrong, Demery follows up with the family and friends of the victim who all report that even though he often drank too much, he was always happy-go-lucky and friendly. Everyone close to him is shocked and deeply saddened at the news of his murder. Close friend Mike who spent the evening he died with him points him to a bar he was headed to after they parted company. This avenue of investigation leads Demery to the bartender working that night who knew him well and had a bad feeling about a stranger who he had drinks with and left the bar with him that night. When he tracks the young lady down Demery learns she is a crack addict with a criminal record. In the end she confesses to the murder with a story that paints her as a victim rather thank the thief she really is. The jury doesn't buy her story either and deliberated only 6 minutes before handing down their verdict.

The Woman in the Leopard Print Dress

A drunken brawl at a local watering hole culminates in the stabbing death of bar regular J.W. Fuller. Detective Rod Demery finds a curious clue in the victim's breast pocket, leading him on a search for a mystery woman with a leopard print dress.
