Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) wakes up, discovering that he slept with Carolyn (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor) last night. Carolyn states that they will not mention the event, saying their status quo has not changed at all. As he walks out, he meets Jamal (Amin Joseph), who takes a dislike to Raylan. Mansell (Boyd Holbrook) meets with Sweety (Vondie Curtis-Hall) to discuss any potential targets in the Judge's book. Sweety suggests Burt Dickey (David Cross), a real estate agent in Bloomfield Hills, which Mansell accepts. They visit Dickey and blackmail him into giving up money to have his name removed from the book. Sweety asks for $30,000 but settles for $10,000, infuriating Mansell. That night, Mansell breaks into Dickey's house to retrieve an expensive painting. As the Judge's case has barely made any progress, Downey (Marin Ireland) states that they need to go back to the beginning. Raylan and Wendell (Victor Williams) check on the crime scene but won't find anything through the witnesses and they are unable to reach Detective Raymond Cruz to know more about Mansell. Raylan and Carolyn dine in a restaurant, until their date is interrupted by Jamal, prompting Carolyn to walk out. She later visits Jamal at his house and they appear to reconcile. However, Carolyn discovers that Jamal is dating a woman, which means she no longer has to provide alimony to him. She states that she paid the tax lien and does not want to get involved with him ever again. She then visits Sweety at the Tavern, asking to see the book, willing to cooperate with him to get the position of Judge. Sweety allows her, but tells her not to do anything before informing him. At the bar, Raylan meets with Cruz (Paul Calderon), who claims there is not much information beyond what was found in the file and Raylan asks him what's missing on Mansell, that he "ain't gonna sleep at night that SOB wins." Cruz then tells him a story about a case he solved -- an old case where he went after a criminal who then visited him at home to "have a drink" of beer together. When the criminal was reaching down, Cruz killed him. He was actually reaching for a bottle opener, but the incident was deemed as self-defense, and Cruz says "and I sleep just like a baby."

Episode 6
Adios
Tue, Aug 15, 2023 47 mins
Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) is visited by Carolyn (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor), who reveals that she saw the Judge's book, and found some of the targets. Somewhere, Dickey (David Cross) visits a friend, Lonnie (Kevin Anderson), hiring him into taking back the painting that Mansell (Boyd Holbrook) took from his house. Mansell and Sweety (Vondie Curtis-Hall) meet on the roof of a parking garage with another person in the book. However, the man only has $12,000 instead of the $15,000 they asked. When Mansell rams his car, the man flees and accidentally falls off the building to his death. Raylan talks to Downey (Marin Ireland) about getting to know about the book, with Downey correctly deducing he slept with Carolyn. They meet with prosecutor Diane (Regina Taylor), blackmailing her into working with them. As her name is in the book, she will be part of a trap set for Mansell and Sweety, or she will be exposed for taking bribes. Lonnie arrives at Sweety's Tavern, forcing Sweety to leave Mansell's penthouse to meet him. He offers him to make the recovery easier by providing him the address to Mansell's penthouse. Their meeting is interrupted when Sweety is called by Diane, who offers $30,000 to get her name removed from the book, and agrees to a meeting later. Sweety also gives up Mansell's name to Lonnie, instructing him that Mansell must be killed while Sweety himself gets the painting back for him. Sweety tricks Mansell into going to the meeting alone, although Sandy (Adelaide Clemens) is revealed to have taken the painting to sell it. At the park, Mansell meets with Diane, with the task force watching nearby. When Mansell confirms the blackmail, the task force starts moving in. They arrest Mansell, while Lonnie is forced to continue walking, unable to kill Mansell. However, Downey discovers that Mansell does not have anything incriminating on him, so they are forced to release him. In the car with Wendell (Victor Williams), Raylan questions how Mansell gets extremely lucky in getting away with everything. At Sweety's, Sweety and Lonnie are interrupted when Mansell arrives. As Lonnie is called by Dickey, Mansell kills him with a gunshot. He then forces Sweety to unplug his jukebox so he can play his own stereo. Sweety tries to reach the gun he hid, but finds that the gun is not there. He eventually confronts Mansell, who then shoots him in the chest, killing him. With the liquor, Mansell sets the tavern on fire and escapes.
